About the City Learning Centres

The Leicester CLCs are part of a national network of 105 City Learning Centres that work with their local schools to develop innovative approaches to learning with ICT. This informs schools' strategic planning for the curriculum, for ICT, and for initiatives such as BSF

CLC mission statement, aims and objectives:

To establish Centres of Excellence for Information and Communication Technology, in which individuals are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential.

The City Learning Centres serve the vibrant communities of Leicester and their surrounding areas and provide inspiring environments that create high quality teaching and learning opportunities. We provide centres of excellence where innovative projects can be undertaken by different user groups and, once successful, shared with our partner schools. The centres offer easy access and facilities for all, including those with disabilities and special needs. We cater for learners from all educational backgrounds, for pupils and staff as well as independent adult learners.

Our aims are to:

  • Enhance teaching and learning across the whole curriculum by providing opportunities for students and staff
  • To develop a range of specialist activities through the utilisation of the high quality facilities and resources to support learning partners
  • To deliver services and outreach support for a wider network of local and partner schools
  • To improve attainment levels by increasing access to, and use of, the latest education technology by pupils and adults
  • To act as a test bed for innovation and new ways of teaching and learning and cascade best practice amongst the local network of schools
  • To improve employment prospects
  • To develop staff to their full potential, to further achieve the aims and objectives Leicester City Learning Centres
  • To offer opportunities to the local community to utilise the power of ICT
